ART OF THE CITY
Philadelphia – Art In City Hall celebrates the opening of its 52ndexhibition for local artists since the program began in 1984. Art of theCity features the work of 39 Philadelphia area artists working in avariety of mediums. The pieces are inspired by the theme of “the city.”The exhibit runs from July 12 to October 5, 2007 on the second and fourthfloors of City Hall, NE corner. A reception open to the general public isscheduled for Thursday, July 12 from 5-7pm on the second floor, NEentrance.The 39 participating artists are:
Marilyn Ashbrook, Elfie Harris, Richard Metz, Justin Audet, Kay Healy, Anne Minich, Karen Brown, John Hollis, Keiko Miyamori, Laura Beamesderfer, Leandre Jackson, Sean O’Rourke, Lois Allen, Charles Leroy Johnson, Adam Shuman, Chelsea Combs, Ashley King, Miriam Singer, Jared Dobrosky, Morris Klein, Holly E. Smith, Walter Edmonds, Andrea Krupp and many more...
The artwork was selected by local artist and current Exhibitions Committee Chair, Cavin Jones:“I believe inspiration is the starting point for art, and the artworks inthis show reflect how these particular artists were inspired by life in thecity. There is a variety of style, vision, and technique used to create theartwork, which reflects another aspect of a city - its diversity.”
